It was our 10-year anniversary two days ago. Time has flown by, and I almost can’t believe that we got married 10 years ago! While we were sitting at a nice restaurant by the river having dinner, child-free (thank God for babysitters!), my dear husband was waxing lyrical about how amazing I was, and how happy he was to be married to me. He was very vocal and must’ve been up all night thinking about what he was going to say.
When we got home that night, he said he didn’t feel like I expounded my undying love enough. Well, it was true. I didn’t have time to sit and think about it. We’ve been through a lot; things have been both hard and amazing – but we have survived, and are still happily married and not roommates. (Trust me, it was a very close call to being just roommates…)
When I forced myself to take a few moments to think about my undying love for my husband, I was reminded of his heart of gold. He’s a genuinely kind, goodhearted person. So I made sure to tell him that and give him lots of cuddles. Sometimes I forget that all my husband needs is for me to tell him how much I love him, and a bit of a spooning cuddle to make him happy.
Thank you, Lord, for our spouses. Help us to take time and remember the good things about them, and to make sure we vocalise it to them occasionally.
